Lakera vs Prompt Security: Guard API vs Platform GenAI Coverage

Choose Lakera when you need Check Point AI Guardrails (Guard API) on the LLM apps and agents you build. Choose Prompt Security when you need one platform across employees, developers, apps, and agents inside SentinelOne Singularity.

If next week’s hard hours are wiring a Guard call into every LLM step of an app you ship, buy the managed runtime filter. If those hours are inventing shadow AI, redacting pastes into Copilot, and putting one policy fabric in front of employees, developers, apps, and agents, buy the platform. That is the decision before the feature matrix.

Between these two, Check Point AI Guardrails (Lakera Guard / Guard API) productizes runtime screening you embed: prompt attacks, data leakage, content violations, malicious links, and off-policy agent or tool behavior on the path of apps and agents you build. Prompt Security productizes one GenAI security platform inside SentinelOne Singularity across workforce tools, code assistants, homegrown apps, and agents, with shadow AI discovery across 15,000+ services. Lakera’s public site also markets Workforce AI Security. Prompt Security also ships a realtime AI firewall for apps you build. The centers still differ. Both already sit on SecureCoding’s LLM firewall tools shortlist. Workforce network governance versus Prompt Security is a different pair under WitnessAI vs Prompt Security; broader compares live under Compare.

First-party branding stays distinct after platform moves. Guard docs brand Check Point AI Agent Security and AI Guardrails on docs.lakera.ai. Prompt Security remains the product name on SentinelOne pages after the August 2025 SentinelOne acquisition. Check Point announced its Lakera acquisition on 16 Sep 2025; docs still use the Lakera docs host for Guard.

We reviewed first-party docs, public product pages, and live community threads. We did not sit in paid production tenants, so this is not a hands-on benchmark.

Editions and pricing

Lakera Guard docs package Check Point AI Agent Security (discovery, risk assessment, and runtime) and a standalone AI Guardrails tier for teams that only embed the Guard API. Public docs advertise a free-start path; enterprise packaging is sales-led (checked 11 Sep 2026).

Prompt Security sells as Prompt Security on the SentinelOne platform. The product page documents coverage across employees, developers, homegrown apps, and agents, with demo CTAs rather than published monthly rates (checked 11 Sep 2026).

If procurement needs a published monthly rate before a call, Prompt Security will not fill the spreadsheet from first-party list prices today. Lakera’s free-start path is for Guard experimentation, not a published enterprise dollar ladder.

That production injection pain is why teams shop a Guard-shaped API. Between these two, the embed-the-filter loop still sits with Lakera Guard / AI Guardrails. Prompt Security can firewall apps too; do not buy it here only as a drop-in Guard SDK if Singularity platform coverage is not the hire.

That shadow-AI sprawl is the platform pain Prompt Security productizes across touchpoints. Between these two, inventing and governing workforce and developer AI at scale still sits with Prompt Security on Singularity. Lakera can expand beyond Guard; do not treat Guard Quickstart as a substitute for enterprise AI touchpoint inventory.

Where they overlap

Both sell into GenAI runtime defense. Both talk about prompt injection, sensitive data in prompts, agents, and MCP. Both appear on the same LLM firewall shortlist. An RFP that only says “AI firewall” will shortlist both. Embedding Guard on apps you ship does not by itself invent every unsanctioned ChatGPT paste across the company, and a Singularity-wide platform does not by itself make a sub-50ms Guard call the center of your app architecture, so overlap is real and still incomplete.

When to use both

Use both only if you deliberately want a Guard API embedded on apps you build and a separate Singularity platform covering workforce and developer AI. That is two tools and two operating models.

Skip Prompt Security here if primary pain is Check Point AI Guardrails on the LLM path of apps and agents you ship, without a Singularity attach. Skip Lakera here if primary pain is platform coverage across employees, developers, apps, and agents inside an existing SentinelOne desk.

Decide which operational pain owns the budget. Guard / AI Guardrails API for apps you build: Lakera. GenAI security platform across employees, developers, apps, and agents on Singularity: Prompt Security. Only then open the quotes.

FAQs

Are Lakera and Prompt Security the same GenAI firewall?

No. Both filter prompts and responses. Lakera leads on Guard / AI Guardrails you embed for apps and agents you ship. Prompt Security leads on platform coverage across every AI touchpoint inside SentinelOne Singularity.

Is Lakera still its own brand after Check Point?

Guard docs brand Check Point AI Agent Security and AI Guardrails on the Lakera docs host. Check Point announced the Lakera acquisition on 16 Sep 2025. Product naming on public pages still mixes Lakera and Check Point labels.

Is Prompt Security still its own brand?

Yes. First-party SentinelOne pages still brand the product as Prompt Security. The prompt.security site presents it as Prompt Security from SentinelOne.

How is this different from WitnessAI vs Prompt Security?

WitnessAI vs Prompt Security splits network-level workforce AI governance from Prompt Security’s GenAI firewall. This page splits Lakera Guard API embed for apps you ship from Prompt Security’s broader Singularity platform across touchpoints.

Do I need both?

Only if you deliberately want an embedded Guard API and a separate Singularity AI platform. Most teams pick the weekly loop that hurts more.

Is there a public list price?

Lakera docs advertise a free-start Guard path; enterprise AI Agent Security is quote-led (checked 11 Sep 2026). Prompt Security has no public dollar ladder on the product page (checked 11 Sep 2026).

Is this a scored bake-off?

No. Order is editorial.
